Books

Go to your library and get them to find you a copy of Discovering Watercolour by Jack Merriott. This is the text book you need to improve your watercolour. It is not full of pretty pictures like most of today's art books but has a text worth reading, with just enough images to put the writing into context. Get your secondhand books from  www.abebooks.co.uk .

The Artist and Tutor

Alan Hearsum on location.  The place you learn how to paint landscape is outside on location. The place you learn how to paint in watercolour is inside in the studio.

Alan owes much of his success and ability from the teaching of Bob Kilvert; a man of many talents.  Alan has spent many years in the textile industry struggling with the medium until he met Bob and the whole process of painting in watercolour fell into place.
